Satellite is a new exhibition during Miami's Art Week at a variety of venues throughout Miami Beach. This isn't just about all the fine art you usually hear about during Art week. Jewish Museum of Florida And F.I.U present Jewish Walking Tour Of Miami Beach from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015. Miami Beach has over a 100 years of Jewish history and this tour takes participants through all of this--including architecture. Cost for members is $10 and non-members $15. Marc Straus presents an installation by Chris Jones at Pulse Miami Beach 2015 (December 1 to 5). The installation is titled, Everyone Is Somewhere. The installation is specific to Pulse 2015. It is a "building" that is in the middle of the Pulse fair. It is a 3D collage piece. The gallery's booth will also be showing work by aboriginal artists Margaret Loy Pula and Lily Kelly Napangardi. Marc Straus always has interesting work at any fair they attend. Be sure to check this piece and their booth at Pulse. The Hinge, a solo exhibit by Ana Cardoso, runs November 7 to December 23, 2015 at Andrew Rafacz (835 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago). There will be an opening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, November 7. This is Cardoso's first solo exhibit in Chicago and it consists of multi-panel paintings, single paintings and a dloor sculpture. The pieces are minimalist and often monochrome. Colors may be bright or muted creating a delicate and unique collection of work. Didn't You Once Date Picasso?, paintings by Alison Rash runs November 6 to December 31, 2015 at Adah Rose Gallery (3766 Howard Ave., Kensington, MD). There will be an opening/vernissage from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, November 15. Rash, who lives and works in Lincoln, Nebraska (a recent transplant from Los Angeles). She holds an MFA from Claremont Graduate University (concentration in painting). She also has an MA in Education from Pepperdine. This is the artist's second show with the gallery. Port City Talks. Istanbul. Antwerp is part of the Europalia Turkey International Arts Festival in Antwerp, Belgium. The festival and exhibit are currently open (closes January 24, 2015) Port City Talks is curated by Turkish architect, Murat Tabanlıoğlu, and is a journey through the Bosporus by way of photography and film by current artists.The similarities between Istanbul and Antwerp, two port-cities, are highlighted. Fourteen artists took part, creating multimedia installations showing their views on modern Istanbul. Historical objects, loaned from public and private collections, are also featured. |
